Carol S. Sweesy, 71 of Warren Ave. in East Liverpool died on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at the home of her son in Rogers where she was being cared for after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke a week earlier.

Born in Bedford Pennsylvania on March 27, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Herman E. and Ruth T. Miller Scritchfield.

Carol was currently working in the stationary department at the Calcutta Wal-Mart, where she has been employed for the past seventeen years. She was a member of the Boyce United Methodist Church in East Liverpool.

 Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Sweesy, her sister, Wilma Theresa Scritchfield, and her brother, Walter Scritchfield.

Surviving are her children, James Dean Silverthorn and wife Mary of Carmichaels, PA; Anetta “Sis” Flory of East Liverpool, and Charles Christopher Silverthorn and wife Delores of Rogers; and her siblings, Mae Feight of Bedford, PA; Joy Veach of Orange Park, FL; Blaine Scritchfield of Bedford, PA; and Richard Scritchfield of Everet, PA. Twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren survive as well.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Tuesday, July 11, from 4-8 p.m. Pastor Alvin Talkington will celebrate Carol’s life at the funeral home on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.
